Cant get it to work on LAN

I bought this because I want to keep an eye on my kids using my Apple Watch over my LAN when I am at home. Simple enough.

But I need to install a program on my desktop and have it running at all times? Why??

Plus I cant get it work anyway. I get "No Sources Found" on the phone even though the desktop app says it is connected to the server. Troubleshooting says it must be the username/password. Nope.
